HOW TO CARE AND WASHING YOUR ALPACA CLOTHING

Learn a few simple tips how to take care and wash your alpaca clothing.

WHAT TO DO

Tips to follow

HANDWASH

The best way to keep in perfect condition your Alpaca garment is washing them by hand.

CAUTION

Garments of alpaca are of natural fiber and very delicate, so the clothing requires special attention when washing.

COLD WATER

You must fill a container with cold water and soak the garment in the water with care.

SHAMPOO

Pour shampoo gentle and carefully and rub the garment with the hands.

SOAK

Allow to soak in water for two or three minutes, and then rinse with cold water.

SQUEEZE

To squeeze any excess of water from your Alpaca garment first extend a towel, then place the garment above and finally make a roll with the towel and the garment.

CARE

To prevent the garment may shrink, do not use hot water.

DRYING IN SHADOW

To preserve the original color of your garment dry avoid exposing it directly at the sun, dry in the shade.

WHAT NOT DO

Things you shouldn't do

WASHING MACHINE

Do not use washing machine.

DRYER

Do not use dryer.

BLEACH PRODUCTS

Never use bleach.

IRON

The alpaca fiber is highly sensitive, must never be ironing.

COAT HANGERS

Never hang your alpaca garment wet, it will stretch and lose their original shape.

ABUSE

The Alpaca fabric should not be maltreated.

SUNLIGHT

Do not expose your alpaca garment to sunlight.

Texture

Alpaca wool has an especial texture that gives extra lightness and warmth.

Warmer

Alpaca wool is three times warmer than sheep’s wool.

Resistant

Alpaca fiber is three times stronger than sheep´s hair.

Hipoallergenic

Unlike sheep’s wool, the alpaca fiber almost does not contain lanolin, which makes it practically hypoallergenic and suitable for people sensitive to wool.

Light

Being such a warm wool, makes it lighter and more comfortable than other wools.

Soft

Alpaca fiber is more resistant to water and as soft as cashmere.

Finest

The alpaca wool is rated as among the finest in the world, the thickness ranges from 18 to 22 microns. Cashmere is 19 microns.

Sustainable

Alpacas are free grazing animals in lands without pesticides, they are not fed with hormones and do not receive chemicals.

Technique

Alpaca fiber contains microscopic air pockets, which makes thermal and very light weight garments.

Economic

The number of fibers needed to make an alpaca piece of clothing are considerably reduced compared with wool from other animals. Hence, it is a very soft wool and very comfortable to use, and despite providing much warm clothes, there are very light articles.

Durable

Knowing that nowadays consumers are seeking for products that last in time; therefore, baby alpaca products lasts longer wash after wash.

Colors

The Alpaca fiber has a natural color spectrum which ranges from the whitest white to intense black and includes over twenty brown and grey tone.
